How to make Shepherd’s Pie

Shepherd's Pie Ingredients;
1. 800gms of peeled and cubed potatoes
2. 2 tablespoons of softened cream cheese or sour cream
3. ½ cup cream or vegetable or chicken broth
4. 1 tablespoon of olive oil
5. 1 large egg yolk
6. ¾ pounds ground lamb or ground beef
7. Freshly ground black pepper and salt
8. 1 peeled and chopped carrot
9. 1 chopped onion
10. 2 tablespoons all purpose flour
11. 2 tablespoons of butter
12. 2 teaspoons of Worcestershire sauce
13. 1 cup broth or beef stock
14. ½ cup frozen peas
15. 1 teaspoon of sweet paprika
16. 2 tablespoons of fresh parsley leaves

Directions for making Shepherd's pie;

First boil the potatoes in water adding salt for around 12 minutes. Then drain it and pour into a bowl. Mix egg yolk, sour cream and cream. Add this mixture onto the potatoes and mash them until potatoes are smooth.

When the potatoes boil, preheat a frying pan over medium heat. Add oil to it with lamb or beef. Then add pepper and salt. Let it be brown and then crumble the meat for 3 to 4 minutes. If it is lamb and it is fatty, move some dripping from the pan. Add carrot and onion to it. Cook the vegetables for about 5 minutes while stirring on frequently.

In another pan over medium heat, you cook flour and butter together for 2 minutes. Mix in Worcestershire sauce and broth. Wait till the gravy thickens for about 1 minute. Then add gravy to vegetables and meat. Then, stir in peas.

You should then preheat broiler to high heat. Then fill a rectangular shaped casserole with vegetable and meat mixture. Then place the potatoes over the meat evenly. Then top potatoes along with paprika and then roast 6 to 8 inches from heat till the potatoes are browned.
Then top your pie with chopped parsley. Now, your shepherd's pie is ready to serve.
