Kid-Friendly Craft

Kids love to get their hands dirty and create fun crafts. When you bring together paint, glue, plants and dirt, kids are completely in their element and have a lot of fun putting together a cute decorated planter craft. Give the craft on Mother's Day, on a birthday or just place the item in the sunshine for some springtime decoration!

There were also two larger crafts that were done namely a little nook for the kids to play in featuring a DIY cardboard box shelf for their toys and the giant DIY kids chalkboard I made from scratch, these were more mommy crafts enjoyed by the kids type ventures. Both as still very much in use today....More at Simple Craft Ideas for Kids | Powerful Mothering

Gather together:

Glue
Paintbrush
Tissue paper
Yogurt cups
Hearty flowers for your area
Potting soil

Clean out the yogurt cup completely. Make sure it is dry inside and out. Cut three small holes in the bottom of the cup to allow for plant drainage. Use the paintbrush to paint the glue onto the side of the yogurt cup. Make sure the glue is applied in a thin layer on the cup; clumping glue will cause the tissue paper to wad up. Tear up different colors of tissue paper or cut it into small squares. Lay the tissue paper on the glue along the cup so the paper is laying next to each other. The result will be a hodge podge of colors around the cup. Allow the cup to dry completely before moving to the next step.

When the glue is dried, remove the flower from its package. Hold the flower carefully by its stem, close to the dirt. Tip the whole plant upside down carefully so the whole root system falls out without losing the dirt around it. Squeeze the container gently if the plant won't slip out on its own.

Place the plant into the yogurt cup, dirt side down. The plant should fill the cup, but if it doesn't, the sides will need to be filled in with the extra dirt.

This project produces a cute planter complete with flowers. If the flowers are perennial, they will bloom year after year.
