Do some reading:
A lot of information is available both online and in books about childbirth, caring for the infant and many other topics related to the child. You can ask your friends who have given birth before to recommend some books or consult your physician. You can use the book and online articles to get more insight into this issue. Some topics you can research on include facts about pregnancy, nutrition during pregnancy and the fitness factor during this period.

Eat healthy foods:
You can ask your physician about following a healthy diet during pregnancy. The diet needs to supply your body with all the nutrients that are needed by the body and the growing fetus. You may have to supplement your diet with prenatal vitamins which are essential for both of you.

Find a suitable pediatrician:
It is never too early to get a pediatrician to work with when the baby is born. Ask your colleagues who have kids to advice you on the best one to choose. If you meet with the doctor beforehand, you will be able to determine whether he is suitable for you. Before you decide to use him/her, ask some questions so that you get to know them better and determine if they are qualified enough to handle the expected baby.

Childbirth preparation:
Many health institutions offer child preparation classes for would-be parents. You can check up with your doctor to recommend some good classes for you. You can also check online or with your hospital to know whether they have one. The class will teach you a lot of facts about the pregnancy and what to do when the baby finally comes.

These are just some of the ideas you need to know, but you need to be always prepared. For more advice, ask colleagues and friends who are experienced.
